History

Established in 2000, The Santa Cruz Jewish Film Festival was inspired by the mutual love of Jewish film and baseball.  We began with a single film,  The Life and Times of Hank Greenberg, about the first Jewish ballplayer in the major leagues.

Each year, as we increased our the number of films,  our festival has blossomed into a highly anticipated and well-received Jewish film festival in Santa Cruz County taking place over a two-week period.

With increased support from sponsors, community partners, volunteers and patrons; and a broader vision,  the SCJFF now  presents multiple film programs .  The Festival is a catalyst for education and action on issues that affect not only the Jewish community and individuals, but the larger Santa Cruz  environs as well.
